Michael Fassbender’s Production Company DMC Expands in Ireland Following Investment From Fine Point Films

Two of the production companies behind Irish breakout hit “Kneecap” are doubling down on their relationship.

DMC, founded by Michael Fassbender (who had a supporting role in “Kneecap”), Conor McCaughan and Daniel Emmerson, is expanding its office in Ireland following an investment by Trevor Birney‘s Fine Point Films into DMC’s Dublin enterprise, DMC Entertainment.

The news was announced at the Galway Film Fleadh, where “Kneecap” had its Irish premiere in 2024 and where this year Birney returns with “You’ll Never Believe Who’s Dead.”

As part of the deal, Tamryn Reinecke of Robin Fox Productions has joined the venture as a Dublin-based executive producer and will support the company’s expanding Irish development slate while managing its international production partnerships.

According to the companies, the investment from Fine Point into DMC Entertainment will “expand their capacity” and is expected to “accelerate the slate of upcoming projects and expand both companies’ reach in the Irish and global markets, combining their expertise across the increasingly frequent shared island productions.”

“Irish stories and storytelling has been at the heart of what we’ve built at DMC,” said DMC CEOs Fassbender, Emmerson and McCaughan. “We are extremely excited to be ramping up our production capacity in Ireland with the help of Tamryn and Trevor whose taste and instincts are a perfect fit for us.”

DMC’s recent hits include SXSW breakout “LifeHack” by Irish filmmaker Ronan Corrigan, Netflix hit “The Kitchen,” BAFTA-nominated Sundance winner “Scrapper” and the multiple BAFTA-nominated Irish co-Production “Calm With Horses.” Meanwhile Birney has produced a wide range of high-profile documentaries and films, including “Saipan,” “Let the Canary Sing” and “No Stone Unturned” and is next producing “Kneecap” director Rich Peppiatt’s second feature “Bad Bridgets.” Reinecke’s credits include Paramount+ thriller “The Day” starring Minnie Driver, Channel 4 drama “Hunting Alice Bell” by David Baddiel, SXSW special jury award winner “It Is In Us All” and the 2022 Galway Film Fleadh best film winner “Redemption of a Rogue.”

“We’ve long admired what the team at DMC have been building, and this partnership felt like a natural next step,” said Birney, Film Point Films managing director. “The Dublin office gives us a stronger footprint across the island and a bigger canvas for both companies. Ireland’s film and television industry, north and south, has captured global attention due to the distinctiveness of the work, driven by a combination of creative momentum, strategic investment, and a new confidence in the stories emerging from the island.”

Added Reinecke, executive producer, DMC Entertainment: “Ireland is producing some of the most distinctive film and television work in the world right now, and there’s real momentum behind the industry both creatively and commercially. I’m excited to support DMC’s ambition to grow Ireland not just as an international production destination, but as a place to develop bold Irish stories that can travel globally.”
