Fathom Entertainment Names Jason Brenek as CEO
Jason Brenek has been named as Fathom Entertainment‘s new CEO following the previously announced retirement of Ray Nutt.
Speaking on behalf of the Fathom Entertainment Board of Directors, Adam Rymer, Chief Commercial Officer at Regal Global Entertainment, said, “Jason is the right leader to build on Fathom’s remarkable foundation of success in theatrical distribution and take the company into its next era of growth. Jason’s expertise across theatrical distribution, content and event cinema production and marketing, and technology, combined with a history of working with Fathom and a deep understanding and appreciation of the company, made him the clear choice. We are grateful to Ray Nutt for the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind and thrilled to see what Jason and the incredible team at Fathom will build from here.”
Fathom Entertainment is co-owned by AMC Entertainment Holdings, Inc., Cinemark Holdings, Inc., and Regal Global Entertainment, which collectively represent more than 19,000 screens across the U.S.

Brenek said, “There are very few companies in this industry that genuinely expand what the moviegoing experience can be. Fathom created the category of ‘event cinema,’ and I have admired what this team has built for well over a decade. Having had the opportunity to work with Fathom at different points in my career, I have seen firsthand the care and creativity this organization brings to content producers, cinema partners, and millions of consumers. Under Ray’s leadership, Fathom has grown into something truly special during this period of radical change in the broader business of entertainment — a company with a devoted audience, a distinct identity, and a real and expanding role in the theatrical landscape.”
Brenek added, “My focus will be on expanding and elevating the content we bring to the big screen, deepening the relationships we have with our exhibitor and content partners, and growing Fathom’s reach and relevance in ways that deliver communal experiences to audiences and grow the broader entertainment ecosystem. I could not be more pleased to lead this company into its next chapter.”
With over two decades of senior executive experience, Brenek assumes the top leadership position as the company continues its evolution from Fathom Events into Fathom Entertainment, a full-service specialty theatrical distributor with major motion picture distribution capabilities.
The company’s upcoming wide theatrical release of “Wildwood,” Laika’s new stop-motion feature film opening in theatres nationwide Oct. 23, marks an expansion of Fathom’s programming footprint.
Prior to his new position, Brenek served as Founder and CEO of MetaMedia, the world’s first global cloud-based platform for delivering movies, live events, and premium content to cinemas at scale. Under his leadership, MetaMedia pioneered real-time, cloud-based content delivery to more than 600 cinemas across 30 leading chains worldwide before its successful acquisition by Qube Cinema in 2025.
Brenek served as Executive Vice President of IMAX Corporation and President of IMAX Home. He also spent more than a decade in various senior leadership positions at The Walt Disney Company, including Senior Vice President of Worldwide Digital Cinema and Cinema Programming. Brenek was responsible for setting and executing Disney’s global cinema strategy and overseeing the global transition from analog to digital cinema as Chairman of Digital Cinema Initiatives.
While at Disney, Brenek also oversaw the company’s 3D and event cinema production and programming, which included co-producing two Disney feature films and pioneering live ESPN, NBA, and NCAA sporting events for cinemas. In 2025, Brenek was presented with the International 3D & Advanced Imaging Society’s first-ever Founders Award. While serving as Disney’s Senior Vice President of International In-Home, Brenek oversaw a multi-billion-dollar division leading groundbreaking home streaming and television distribution partnerships in more than 70 countries.
