Andrea Riseborough Joins Jeremy Strong in Paramount+ Drama ‘9/12’

Andrea Riseborough has joined the cast of the Paramount+ drama “9/12,” which follows the David vs. Goliath legal battle that exposed corruption and won justice for 9/11’s ailing first responders.

The “To Leslie” Oscar nominee joins Jeremy Strong in the six-episode limited series. She plays Molly, a resilient wife who is deeply concerned about her family’s future and the health of her husband, a former NYPD cop. She demands help and finds hope in the legal expertise of renowned class action attorney Jason Smith, played by Strong (“Succession,” “The Apprentice”).

Molly’s husband, a former first responder suffering from leukemia who is known as Coach, is played by Barry Pepper (“Saving Private Ryan,” “The Kennedys”).

Per the logline, “‘9/12’ dramatizes a landmark case that reshaped the fight for accountability: a relentless legal war that stretched nearly a decade to secure almost $1 billion in compensation for first responders who fell gravely ill in the wake of 9/11.” It focuses on Strong’s portrayal of Jason Smith, “who risked everything to take on entrenched institutions, exposing the politics, greed, corruption and betrayal that compounded tragedy set against the emergency workers’ extraordinary unity and unflinching bravery as The World Trade Center was collapsing.”

“9/12” is written and executive produced by Tobias Lindholm (who also directs) and Frank Pugliese. Strong is also an EP.

Riseborough is an Academy Award-nominated actor whose recent credits include Jan Komasa’s “Good Boy” and Paul Andrew Williams’ “Dragonfly.” She also appeared in “Goodbye June,” “Lee,” “Funny Birds,” “Alice & Jack” and “The Regime.” Next, she’ll be seen as fashion editor Isabella Blow in Alex Marx’s “The Queen of Fashion.”
