Where To Find Blackbeard’s Treasure In Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced
Are you scratching your head about Blackbeard’s Treasure in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced? This is a new mission that’s exclusive to the remake, and it provides a rather fitting conclusion to the narrative arc involving the rather controversial Edward Thatch. We’ve got all the details for you right here in our guide. That said, please be reminded that this article contains spoilers.
Blackbeard’s Treasure Map and Burn Blackbeard’s Beard in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced
To start the Blackbeard’s Treasure quest, you must progress further into the campaign until you complete Sequence 08: Do Not Go Gently. There’s a series of cutscenes, and eventually you’ll see Edward Kenway sitting by his lonesome on the beach. He then checks the hat that Blackbeard left behind, which nets you the following:
- Burn Blackbeard’s Beard - This is a sea shanty that your crew can sing while you’re sailing aboard the Jackdaw.
- Blackbeard’s Treasure Map - The crudely drawn map shows an “X” north of Kingston in modern-day Jamaica. The map also has an arrow pointing to another “X” in a cavern full of barrels.
To find Blackbeard’s Treasure in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, you need to head to Anotto Bay. The coordinates are 591,243.
When you get there, you’ll notice a bunch of other pirate ships that aren’t allied with you. These smugglers will immediately turn hostile, so go ahead and blast them with the Jackdaw’s cannons.

How to reach the Anotto Bay cavern
Once the enemies have been eliminated, explore the area above the water. You’ll learn that some of the smugglers went swimming down the tunnels.
Look for the wreck of the diving bell and go underwater. As you dive, you’ll see several jellyfish outside a mining tunnel. Avoid the jellyfish as much as possible since they deal damage to Edward.
Next, continue along the tunnel until you’re prompted to avoid the shark attack. Simply press the dodge button and tilt the left thumbstick to the left or right so you don’t turn into fish food. You’ll also spot some bubbles, which denote the nearby air pockets so you can replenish oxygen.

Dive below the wreckage and enter the tunnel (left). Just watch out for sharks and jellyfish (right).
Anotto Bay smuggler’s den
Shortly thereafter, you’ll surface in the smuggler’s den. This place is crawling with half a dozen pirates, so go ahead and take them out as you see fit. Here are a couple of tidbits that you need to know:
- There’s a large chest here that can be unlocked with a smuggler’s key. However, the smuggler NPC that has the key won’t spawn if you’re currently doing this side quest. You have to revisit this area while free-roaming.
- The chest itself contains a map fragment that you can decipher via the Treasure Dealer shop in Great Inagua.
- Moreover, one of the Treasure Map collectibles points you to a buried chest in this area.
As for the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Blackbeard’s Treasure, you need to carry one of the red barrels to the collapsed section of the wall. Drop it there and shoot it with your pistol from afar. The explosion should create an opening.
Defeat the enemies in the next cavern with the pool of water. Then, bring another red barrel to the wall at the end of the path and blow it up to trigger a cutscene.

Use the barrels to blow up the walls in the first and second caverns (left and right image, respectively).
The real treasure was the friends we made along the way
Edward and co. will open the chest, which, surprisingly, reveals only some tools and wares. That said, Blackbeard did leave behind a letter in which he tells you that the items are meant to help you rebuild your town in Great Inagua. After a short cutscene that denotes that two months have passed, you’ll also receive Blackbeard’s Portrait, which you can hang in your manor.

That does it for our guide on where to find Blackbeard’s Treasure in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. While the conclusion and explanation might seem a bit hokey for one of the world’s most notorious pirates, there are still lots of other goodies to discover in the Caribbean. You can learn more about these in our Treasure Maps/Buried Chests guide and Mayan Stelae guide.
